River Irons is a Baltimore-based artist and writer exploring constructs of race and patriarchy in Euro-American classicism. Irons deconstructs nationalist narratives by revisiting her childhood of indoctrination in a religious cult and her naive exploration of American culture after her escape. Her work is deeply influenced by her early Eurocentric education as examined through the lens Critical Race Theory and Whiteness Studies.
